Secrets from the Ages

Chapter 21

Why does God allow suffering?

Well, I'll ask you, the reader, that question, since you are God. Why do you allow suffering? So far as I know the answer is simply that you can't stop it. All the suffering, all the deaths, all the mother's that have lost their sons simply cannot be stopped by God. God doesn't have that power. It isn't that he has a plan that requires all these deaths. It isn't that God has no compassion. He made the universe, yes. But he isn't able to just change things at will. If you think he can, then go ahead and do it, your God.

The way God made the universe was to create the various particles and agree with himself on the laws of how those particles would act in this universe. Once all the laws were made he increased the number of particles in the universe until he was confident that there were enough for his purposes. This he did according to the laws he had already created.

According to scientists who have been studying the universe, there are four basic forces that determine how our universe works. A couple of these forces are extremely powerful. They reach across billions of miles of space and hold stars in place and determine the existence or non existence of planets. This is not really a physics lesson, this is to point out how delicate this universe is. These four forces, one of which is gravity, are extremely delicately balanced. If any one of these forces were to change just a tiny bit, the entire universe would come unbalance, and the resultant occurrence would be so devastating that all life as we know it in the entire universe would be annihilated.

You must remember, when God started there were no concepts, there were no ideas, there was no matter, energy, space, or time. God could not think, because there was nothing to think about. God came into existence by making a single point and then two points and then many points. Remember, before there was anything there was noting. Nothing can be shown to have inherent qualities, but the fact is, when there was nothing there was nothing until the first point was created.

God could then think about the point, but the thinking was extremely limited. The points had done nothing yet, and thus thinking was limited to only a thought or two. God added more points and more things happened and more thinking then could occur. The four basic forces of the universe are only a small part of the laws and rules that God made. God couldn't just make a rule. Any rule made had to balance with all the rest. He had to determine this balance each time a new rule was made. There was a point at which the universe was somewhat completed and God decided that those rules would stay in place. To change any one of them is a complex operation that could go on for millions of years or even billions of years.

Life evolved in this universe within the rules and laws that God set down while making the universe. It may have taken ten, or a hundred, or a thousand universes with thousands of different laws to finally get life to evolve. He had eternity in which to do it. But he finally did it. Life evolved on Earth or was brought to Earth from some other place. But it did evolve somewhere in this universe.

So, to make an universe where things are happening different, it wouldn't be that God just says the word and it happens. That's a nice Bible story, that God can do such things, it really isn't that easy for even God. He can do miracles from time to time from one person's viewpoint. In fact, thousands of miracles happen all the time. It is estimated that one miracle happens in 100,000 peoploe at least once a month. Thus in the USA approximately 4000 miracles happen each month. So God as man, does create some miracles as time passes. Those people who have walked through the 1600 degree coals in bare feet can attest to that.

But to completely, for example, to eliminate all suffering on this planet God would have to change many laws and rules, because things have been happening according to the laws that he has already set. He couldn't just say, "All suffering will now stop." It doesn't work that way. That means that all of a sudden plenty of food would simply show up, all diseases would vanish, all bad water would go away, people would stop hating people, thousands of other things would happen. The game of this universe would stop and some other game would come into play, but that is not what God can do.

Do you see what would happen? Many laws of the universe would change or cease to exist. The balance of the universe would shift. If it didn't kill all life God would certainly have to work at restoring the balance. It might take thousands or millions of years. We have been taught that God is so all powerful that he can do anything by just saying it. But for the most part he would have to work with the natural laws in the area. For example to stop a storm, he could shift how much energy came from the sun, or create a cold front by draining the energy out of an area.

The idea that God would just decide things would be a certain way, and "pow" things are that way, sounds great, and we all would like to believe that God can do things that way, just decide and is automatically is. God could have created a tremendous computer like mechanism that automatically creates things the way he decides, but then that mechanism would have to manipulate the elements and the laws to get God's decisions instigated.

Again, it wouldn't just simply happen. Is it starting to make sense why God cannot simply change things to keep his creations from suffering? He didn't make an universe where he could play and have games so that when a game didn't go perfect he could simply change it. That creates a "no games condition." It would eliminate all the fun in any universe if one would always win. A game consists of the possibility of losing as well as winning. If God could just change things any time he wanted, he would have a no games condition. It would be a boredom so intense he would have to build an universe where he could lose which is what he has now.

God simply does not have the powers to change things like that. So you see, stopping the suffering on Earth, keeping the thousands of children from dying, or keeping people from growing old is simply not an option for God. It is beyond his ability. If he could do it, no doubt he would do it. I ask you, since you are God, wouldn't you stop the suffering if you could? If you wouldn't, I would if I could, and I'm God, too.

So what we must do is stop all that suffering and bring peace on Earth, but we have no choice but to work within the laws and rules of the universe. It must be done that way because there is no other choice even for God. It's a tremendous problem, because there is much evil to overcome. The only plan for mankind is the plan that men make. All of us men are God. We must make a plan and then act on the plan. Read the Story of Earth.

We did make a plan and a few of us are acting on that plan, and there will be many more of us soon. It is not a plan from some higher authority or greater group of spiritual beings or from God. It is a plan created by men. In other words, the plan was created by God while using mens minds, so we merely say created by men. The third millennium starts the plan in full swing. The true starting date is 2017. See the plan for world peace given in Chapter 19.
